Active Minds to host youth suicide prevention specialist Rivedal

9:41 a.m., Oct. 17, 2013--Active Minds at the University of Delaware will host a guest speaker during a special program at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, in 120 Smith Hall.

Featured will be Josh Rivedal, a youth suicide prevention specialist who will showcase his theatrical and educational suicide prevention program. Rivedal’s goal is to promote mental health awareness and help reduce suicides on campus and in the community.

April 23-May 10: 'The 39 Steps'

The University of Delaware Resident Ensemble Players will present "Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps" from April 23 through May 10 at the Roselle Center for the Arts.

April 27: Free speech/hate speech

Space is still available in the special half-day symposium at UD that will explore the complexities of free speech, the hurtful impact of hate speech and ways to balance privilege with the rights of others. Advance registration is required.

The program involves a seven-song one-man show that ends with his father's suicide and how he coped with it. 

Following that will be an educational session highlighting his struggle with depression while in college, how he found help, and how others can receive help. 

Concluding the event, there will be a panel discussion question and answer session to introduce more students to staff counselors.
