Swim Club to raise money for Boys and Girls Club

7:19 p.m., Oct. 4, 2013--The Swim Club at the University of Delaware will hold its first ever SwimFest this weekend to raise money for charity.

The event will be held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, at the pool in the Carpenter Sports Building.

May 4: Mary K. Carl Memorial Lecture

Mary G. Carey of the University of Rochester will deliver the Mary K. Carl Memorial Lecture, "Surveying and Assessing Cardiovascular Health Among Professional Firefighters," from 4-6 p.m., Monday, May 4.

May 4: Spoken-word poet

The Robert Longwell Grice Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary at the University of Delaware will host the spoken-word poet Sarah Kay at 7 p.m., Monday, May 4, in the Pearson Hall auditorium.

Participants are asking family and friends to sponsor them to swim as many laps as they can during the event. In addition to continuous lap swim, there will be relays, a belly flop contest and raffles throughout the event.

Proceeds will benefit the aquatics department at the Newark Boys and Girls Club.
