Former employee, alumnus James W. Domorod Sr. dies

2:57 p.m., Oct. 28, 2013--James W. Domorod Sr. of Wilmington, Del., died Jan. 8. He was 61.

He had worked in the University of Delaware's occupational health and safety office, and he received his master of public administration degree from UD in 1991. 

Mr. Domorod is remembered for his contributions to the Delaware Volunteer Fire and Emergency Medical Services. He began in fire service with Brandywine Hundred Fire Company in 1968 and was a life member of Five Points Fire Company, where he had held the offices of ambulance captain and secretary. Through the years, he taught emergency medical technician and incident management courses for the Delaware State Fire School.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Katherine (Childress) Domorod; his daughter, Jessica Berkley, and her husband, Bryan; his sons, James Jr. and his wife, Sarah, and Kenneth and his wife, Alyssa; and his six grandchildren, Zachery, Abigail, Andrew, Jimmy III, Emily and Joseph.
