Strategic planning town halls set
Provost to kick off University's Strategic Planning Initiative, May 12 and 29
9:38 a.m., May 7, 2014--University of Delaware Provost Domenico Grasso will kick off the University’s Strategic Planning Initiative with town hall meetings for the University community on Monday, May 12, from 5-6:30 p.m., and Thursday, May 29, from 3-4:30 p.m., in the Trabant University Center Theatre.
“This is an exciting time for the University of Delaware as we discuss the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and the University’s critical role in addressing society’s most pressing issues,” Grasso said. “Our strategic planning process is designed to be inclusive, thoughtful, engaging and responsive. I encourage all members of the UD community to become a part of this important initiative for our future.”

Grasso previously announced the executive committee and working groups that will lead the Strategic Planning Initiative. The working groups will address the following major topic areas:
- The Sustaining and Accelerating the Advance working group will assess the current Path to Prominence strategic plan to identify successes, as well as unfinished initiatives that might be reassessed for the future.
- The Great Debates, Grand Challenges, Big Ideas working group will identify areas of state, national or global consequence where UD is best positioned, now or in the future, to engage through research, teaching and service initiatives and through new and existing alliances.
- The Models for the New American Research University working group will reflect on best practices and new opportunities and consider new, innovative and effective options concerning institutional organization, curriculum delivery and cost containment.
