Independent theatre, film producer to speak in BAMS series

10:11 a.m., May 5, 2014--G. Lloyd Morris, who writes and produces independent theatre and film works, will present “An American Tale” as the University of Delaware Department of Black American Studies speaker series continues at 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 12, in 001 Mitchell Hall.

A native of Los Angeles, Morris received a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science from Wilmington (Delaware) University and a master of fine arts degree in playwriting from Temple University.

A daylong Saturday Symposium on Nov. 1 will explore World War I through discussions, history and museum tours.

Morris is chief creative director of the Morris Project and his original play The Belly was produced by Temple University, running for 14 shows to sellout crowds. He received the Albert Benzwie Fellowship in Playwriting in 2010 to produce the work.

Morris also wrote, directed and produced Second Chances … An American Tale, which was based on his master’s thesis and premiered in September 12 at the Wilmington Drama League.

He is an adjunct professor of English at Wilmington University.
