UD alumni invited to enjoy cruises in Washington, Baltimore

8:35 a.m., May 16, 2014--University of Delaware alumni are invited to enjoy cruises in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore in coming weeks.

The Washington event will be a sunset cruise on the Potomac River, and will be held Friday, June 13. The Boomerang Tours party yacht will board about 7:15 p.m. from the Georgetown waterfront. There will be a disc jockey and a cash bar, and the event is open to Blue Hens and friends who are 21 and older.

Developing 4-H leaders

Five Delaware 4-H youth represented the First State as delegates to the 2014 National 4-H Congress, a 93-year tradition that recognizes a career of 4-H leadership and project work.

The Baltimore Alumni Club will sponsor an Urban Pirates cruise on Saturday, June 28, with sailors boarding the Fearless about 7 p.m. at the Ann Street Pier. The “bring your own grog” event is open to Hens and friends who are 21 and older.

Information on these and other alumni activities follows:

Tuesday, May 20, 5 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Chicago. Alumni can enjoy a game between two historic teams in a classic venue as the Chicago Cubs host the New York Yankees at Wrigley Field. There will be a pregame buffet at Rockit Burger.

Thursday, June 5, 6 p.m.: Richmond happy hour. UD alumni in the Richmond, Virginia, area will gather for happy hour and beer tasting at the Legend Brewing Company.

Friday through Sunday, June 6-8: Alumni Weekend 2014.

Friday, June 6, 5:30 p.m.: Phoenix Mug Night West Dela-bration. Blue Hens in Arizona will celebrate Alumni Weekend from afar with an event at Buffalo Wild Wings in Tempe.

Friday, June 6, 5:30 p.m.: San Francisco Mug Night West Dela-bration. Northern California Blue Hens will celebrate Alumni Weekend at ThirstyBear Brewing Company.

Friday, June 6, 5:30 p.m.: San Diego Mug Night West Dela-bration. Southern California Blue Hens will celebrate Alumni Weekend at Hennessey’s Tavern in La Jolla.

Friday, June 6, 5:30 p.m.: Los Angeles Mug Night West Dela-bration. Los Angeles area Blue Hens will celebrate Alumni Weekend at Abigaile and Ocean Bar in Hermosa Beach.

Friday, June 6, 7 p.m.: Seattle Mug Night West Dela-bration. Blue Hens in the Pacific Northwest will celebrate Alumni Weekend with an event at the Rock Bottom Brewery.

Friday, June 13, 7:15 p.m.: DC sunset cruise. Blue Hens in the Washington, D.C., area are invited to enjoy a sunset happy hour cruise on the Potomac River.

Saturday, June 21, 11:30 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Long Island. UD alumni will get together for a “peanut free” day at the Bethpage Ballpark in New York as the Long Island Ducks battle the Sugar Land Skeeters in Atlantic League action.

Saturday, June 21, 5:30 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Lehigh Valley. The alumni summer series will continue at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will face the Columbus Clippers.

Sunday, June 22, 11 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/New York. Join fellow Blue Hens at Yankee Stadium for an American League East game between the Yanks and the Baltimore Orioles.

Saturday, June 28, 7 p.m.: Baltimore Urban Pirates cruise. The Baltimore Alumni Club will host an Urban Pirates cruise for a voyage aboard the Fearless.
