UD alumni invited to regional Dela-bration Nation gatherings

9:20 a.m., May 9, 2014--University of Delaware alumni who are interested in joining in Alumni Weekend festivities but cannot make the trip to the East Coast are invited to enjoy Dela-bration Nation gatherings in California, Arizona and Washington state.

California has three Dela-bration Nation events planned, with those in San Francisco and San Diego starting at 5:30 p.m., Friday, June 6, and that in Los Angeles starting at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

Authors Series

University of Delaware alumnus and investigative reporter Charles Lewis discussed his book "935 Lies: The Future of Truth and the Decline of American Moral Integrity" as part of the Delaware Diamonds Society Authors Series.

Intensive training

UD Police Officer Patrick McCloskey is one of nine Delaware law enforcement officers to complete an intensive training course to become a certified drug recognition expert.

The San Francisco event will be held at the ThirstyBear Brewing Company on Howard Street, and the San Diego event will be held at Henessey’s Tavern in La Jolla.

Los Angeles alumni will gather at the Abigaile and Ocean Bar in Hermosa Beach.

Dela-bration Nation events also will be held in Arizona, where Phoenix area Blue Hens will gather at Buffalo Wild Wings in Tempe, and in Seattle, where alumni will get together at the Rock Bottom Brewery.

Thursday, May 15, 5 p.m. San Diego happy hour. Southern California Blue Hens will gather for happy hour at Tower 23 in Pacific Beach.

Thursday, May 15, 7:15 p.m.: NYC spin night. The New York City Alumni Club will offer spin night at FlyWheel on the Upper West Side.

Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m.: Baltimore Dare to Care. Alumni are invited to participate in a Dare to Care event at the Real Food Farm, one of Baltimore’s only urban farms.

Saturday, May 17, 10:30 a.m.: Kent and Sussex Dare to Care. The Kent and Sussex Alumni Club will host a Dare to Care event at the Delaware Seashore State Park, just south of Dewey Beach, where volunteers will help collect trash.

Saturday, May 17, 1 p.m.: New Castle County family bowling. Blue Hens will gather at AMF Prices Lanes on Kirkwood Highway for an afternoon of family bowling.

Saturday, May 17, 2 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Washington, D.C. Blue Hens are invited to enjoy professional baseball at Nationals Ballpark as the Nationals host the New York Mets. There will be a pregame reception at the Half Street Fairgrounds.

Tuesday, May 20, 5 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Chicago. Alumni can enjoy a game between two historic teams in a classic venue as the Chicago Cubs host the New York Yankees at Wrigley Field. There will be a pregame buffet at Rockit Burger.

Friday through Sunday, June 6-8: Alumni Weekend 2014

Friday, June 13, 7:15 p.m.: D.C. sunset cruise. Blue Hens in the Washington, D.C., area are invited to enjoy a sunset happy hour cruise on the Potomac River.
