1:22 p.m., March 4, 2014--The University of Delaware’s Alternative Break (UDaB) program has announced that its video has won a Liberty Mutual Responsible Scholars Alternative Spring Break grant in the amount of $2,000.

UDaB’s video focused on the extraordinary growth of the program and on the Urban Environment trip to Philadelphia. The video went through two phases in the contest: a preliminary round judged by Liberty Mutual, and then a voting round judged by the public.

Global Stories

Fulbright awards

Three University of Delaware students and an alumna have received word this spring that they will travel abroad as part of the newest class of Fulbright Student Program award winners.

Peace Corps plans

Two University of Delaware students, John McCarron and Bridgette Spritz, have been selected as Peace Corps volunteers and will serve in Ghana and Rwanda.

Started in 2010, UDaB is a student-run, student-led organization that participates in service learning and promotes active citizenship via spring break trips.

In its fourth year, UDaB, a program now housed in the Institute for Global Studies, has grown exponentially with eight trips scheduled for spring break 2014.

Program participants will share their experiences with the University community during an informal poster session on Wednesday, April 16, from 6-7 p.m., in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center. Members of the campus community are encouraged to put the date on their calendars so they can meet participants and learn more about their trips.

Those interested in learning more about UDaB can connect via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or visit the Service Learning website for updates and information.
