Plant biologists to meet

Mid-Atlantic Section of American Society of Plant Biologists to meet April 12 at UD

3:36 p.m., March 26, 2014--The spring meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) will be held Saturday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute at the University of Delaware. 

The meeting will feature talks by invited speakers from Cornell University, Penn State University, Stanford University, Seoul National University in Korea, the University of California, Davis, the University of Pennsylvania and UD.

Pavilion Lake Project

A multi-disciplinary project funded by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency is aimed at studying exploration while examining unusual life forms.

Alum is innovator

A team of researchers at Michigan State University, which is led by University of Delaware alumnus Richard R. Lunt, has developed a new type of solar concentrator.

To facilitate more interactions between young and senior scientists, the meeting also will include short presentations by undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. The best undergraduate and graduate student talks of the day will receive the Marsho Award. Poster presentations also are encouraged. 

The deadline for abstract submissions is April 2. Registration closes on April 4.

The meeting is chaired by Jung-Youn Lee, associate professor of plant and soil sciences, and is sponsored by ASPB, UD's Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, DuPont-Pioneer, Fraunhofer Center for Molecular Biotechnology and the Delaware Biotechnology Institute.
