Harrington Theatre Arts Company presents 'Bye Bye Birdie'

9:50 a.m., March 12, 2014--The Harrington Theatre Arts Company at the University of Delaware has announced that it will present the musical Bye Bye Birdie from March 14-22 in the Pearson Hall Auditorium.

Show times will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15, and also Thursday through Saturday, March 20-22.

Through July 31: 'Margaret Walker' exhibition

The University of Delaware Library the 100th anniversary of the birth of poet, novelist, teacher and critic Margaret Walker with a special exhibition on view through July 31.

July 31: Ragtime and jazz concert

Ragtime xylophone and jazz vibes will highlight a free mallet workshop concert, set at 8 p.m., Friday, July 31, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building on UD's Newark campus.

There will be a matinee performance at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 15.

Bye Bye Birdie chronicles the story of Conrad Birdie a rock and roll superstar heartthrob and his agent/songwriter Albert Peterson as they try to figure out a way to escape Conrad's Army enlistment as part of the draft. The musical is a satire of America set in 1958 filled with happy lighthearted music and smiles.
