Christiana Care to host Delaware Health Sciences Alliance event

1:24 p.m., June 3, 2014--The third annual Delaware Health Sciences Alliance (DHSA) Global Health Symposium will be held at the John H. Ammon Medical Education Center on the campus of Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Delaware, on Friday, June 13.

Dr. Tom Quinn, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health and associate director for international research at the National Institutes of Health, will deliver the keynote address.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

A slate of regional and national speakers will discuss topics including:

• Tropical medicine cases,
• Getting involved in work abroad,
• Refugee health issues locally,
• Challenges for residencies and fellowships, and
• Developing a global health track.

The event will also feature interactive panel discussions and innovative workshops.

Registration is free for students, residents, and fellows and discounted for all DHSA institution members (Christiana Care, University of Delaware, Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, and Thomas Jefferson University).
