DENIN announces new funding opportunity for doctoral students
12:29 p.m., June 18, 2014--The Delaware Environmental Institute (DENIN) has announced a new funding opportunity for doctoral students at the University of Delaware, the DENIN Environmental Fellows Program.
The program will support Ph.D. students carrying out environmentally relevant, scientific research that demonstrates a clear link to societal needs and benefits.

DENIN Fellows will be selected as a two-year cohort and will work together as a team in ways that complement their primary academic programs. The fellows will be expected to participate in and lead a select number of events and activities each year, including symposia or seminar series.
DENIN will provide opportunities for networking with domestic and international scientists and leaders, as well as for professional development in areas such as effectively communicating science.
“One of our objectives is to support students and to provide professional experience,” commented Jeanette Miller, DENIN associate director. “Moreover, we are looking for that special person who, in part through affiliation with DENIN, will go on to make a lasting contribution, both scientifically and societally.”
The fellowships will include a $30,000 annual stipend. A cost-of-education allowance is also permitted; applicants may request up to $6,680 per year to be used for tuition, research supplies or research-related travel.
Fellows will be selected by a committee of internal and external reviewers. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on July 18. Successful applicants will be notified by Aug. 1. For complete application instructions, visit the Environmental Fellows webpage.
