Director named for Disability Support Services
10:21 a.m., June 9, 2014--The University Diversity Initiative Office has announced the appointment of Anne Jannarone as the new director of Disability Support Services, effective June 1.
Jannarone is the former director of the Center for Educational Access at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She has also served as the director of the Office of Student Disability Services at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Jannarone has stated that the key to being a good advocate is to develop strong relationships with faculty and staff from as many departments as possible.
“I am confident that Annie Jannarone has the experience, wisdom and professionalism that can guide this important unit to even more success and support for our students, faculty and staff," said Margaret Andersen, interim vice provost for faculty affairs and diversity.
In her new role, Jannarone will oversee University-wide disability support services for faculty members, staff and students; ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and related federal and state regulations; and provide leadership and administrative management to the Office of Disability Support Services.
