Environmental Health and Safety issues laser pointer alert

8:11 a.m., Feb. 4, 2014--The University of Delaware’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety has announced that a recent National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) study found that 90 percent of green laser pointers were mislabeled and exceeded eye safety standards.

Members of the campus community who use laser pointers are advised to switch from green to red (Class 2) pointers.

'Contactless' ONEcard

The UD ID card will be replaced by the ONEcard, which incorporates a chip and features a new technology initiative called "contactless," meaning the card can be placed near a reader device rather than swiped.

Food Bank boost

University of Delaware Parking Services' monthlong food drive program, in which motorists could make donations to pay parking citations, provided over 6,000 nonperishable food items to the Food Bank of Delaware.
