Confucius Institute offers classes in Chinese language, culture
2:09 p.m., Feb. 11, 2014--During spring semester, the Confucius Institute at the University of Delaware will offer free, non-credit classes in the Chinese language and culture to the campus community.
Class size is limited to 20 people, and registration will take place on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fulbright awards
Three University of Delaware students and an alumna have received word this spring that they will travel abroad as part of the newest class of Fulbright Student Program award winners.
Peace Corps plans
Two University of Delaware students, John McCarron and Bridgette Spritz, have been selected as Peace Corps volunteers and will serve in Ghana and Rwanda.
Interested students, faculty, staff and alumni and their spouses may register online.

The Confucius Institute reserves the right to cancel any classes due to student shortage.
Spring classes being offered are as follows:
- Chinese Level 1 for faculty, staff and alumni. Mondays for 12 weeks from Feb. 17 to May 12, with no class on March 31 due to spring break. The class will meet from 5:15-6:30 p.m. in 105 Sharp Lab. Instructor will be Ji Wu.
- Chinese Level 2 for faculty, staff and alumni. Tuesdays for 12 weeks from Feb. 18 to May 13, with no class April 1 due to spring break. The class will meet from 5:15-6:30 p.m. in 105 Sharp Lab. Instructor will be Ji Wu.
- Chinese Level 3, a new class for faculty, staff and alumni. Wednesdays for 12 weeks from Feb. 19 to May 14, with no class on April 2 due to spring break. The class will meet from 5:15-6:30 p.m. in 105 Sharp Lab. Instructor will be Ji Wu.
- Chinese calligraphy and painting for faculty, staff and alumni. Thursdays for 12 weeks from Feb. 20 to May 15, with no class on April 3 due to spring break. The class will meet from 5:15-6:;30 p.m. in 102 McDowell Hall. Instructor will be Lang Qin.
