Newark Police arrest man for burglaries on East Cleveland Avenue

11 a.m., Dec. 23, 2013--Newark Police have arrested William D. Wilson III, 41, of Newark, for burglary and attempted burglary of several homes in the unit block of East Cleveland Avenue on Dec. 21. 

At approximately 10:07 p.m., a suspicious man was seen prowling behind homes in the unit block of East Cleveland Avenue. An officer responded to the scene and located the man, later identified as Wilson, walking along the sidewalk in front of the homes. The officer and witness observed Wilson discard a crow bar onto the ground as the officer approached, and Wilson was taken into custody without incident. 

During the investigation, it was determined that Wilson had entered two homes and attempted to enter a third, all in the same block of East Cleveland. 

Wilson was charged with two counts of second degree burglary, one count of attempted second degree burglary and three counts of possession of burglar tools. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $39,000 secured bail.
