Services for student Dani J. Cummings set Dec. 19

2:20 p.m., Dec. 18, 2013--Funeral services for Dani J. Cummings, a University of Delaware student who passed away unexpectedly Dec. 13, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Goes-Scolieri Funeral Home, 212 Levitt Parkway, Willingboro, N.J. 

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, and after 9 a.m., Dec. 19, at the funeral home. 

Ms. Cummings, 21, of Marlton, N.J., was a sophomore in UD's College of Health Sciences, where she was working toward a bachelor's degree in health sciences and a master's degree in occupational therapy. 

"On behalf of the University community, I extend our deepest condolences to Ms. Cummings' friends and family," said José-Luis Riera, interim dean of students at the University. 

Carolyn Quinci, assistant dean for student services in the college, said Ms. Cummings was easy to talk to and an engaging student. In their discussions focusing on her academic plans, Quinci said, "She gave careful thought as to her career and was looking forward to her work as an occupational therapist."  

She is also remembered for her never-ending passion for reading, for her ability to light up a room with her smile and for the joy she brought to everyone around her. 

Born in Willingboro, N.J., Ms. Cummings was a 2010 graduate of Cherokee High School.

She is survived by her parents, James E. and Maureen P. (McDonald) Cummings; sister, Devon K. Cummings; paternal grandmother, Fusako Cummings; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was the granddaughter of the late James and Evelyn Kruper and Overstone O. Cummings.
