UD Public Safety offers Rape Aggression Defense classes this fall

8:17 a.m., Aug. 27, 2013--University of Delaware Public Safety is offering Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) self-defense classes for University-affiliated women, with basic classes set to begin in September and an advanced class scheduled to begin in October.

Basic RAD provides 15 hours of instruction, and those who register must attend all classes. Classes will meet from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at a central campus location to be announced:

First Friday Roundtable

The First Friday Roundtable on Teaching, a collaborative UD program aimed at highlighting varied approaches of teaching, learning and assessment practices, will hold its first event on Friday, Sept. 5.

Homecoming photo contest

University of Delaware staff and faculty are encouraged to submit their creative, spirited photos to the Homecoming 2014 Dare to Show More Spirit Contest.

• Mondays – Sept. 16, 23 and 30, and Oct. 7 and 14.

• Tuesdays and Thursdays – Sept. 17, 19, 24 and 26, and Oct. 1.

Advanced RAD also provides 15 hours of instruction. A prerequisite is that participants have taken the Basic RAD course. Advanced RAD will meet from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at a central campus location to be announced:

• Mondays -- Oct. 21 and 28, and Nov. 4, 11 and 18.

The cost for all RAD courses is $25 to cover materials, equipment and fees.

Registration is required. Include in the email class choice and University affiliation (faculty, staff, or student).
