OverDrive eBooks can be downloaded to a wide range of mobile devices, including Android, Blackberry, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Kindle and Nook, and can also be downloaded to Windows and Mac computers. The OverDrive Device Resource Center provides a full list of compatible devices.
Free software and apps, such as Adobe Digital Editions, Kindle Reading Apps and OverDrive Media Console are available for download from OverDrive.
OverDrive eBooks are available for use only by students, faculty and staff of the University of Delaware who will need a current UDelNet ID and password to check out books from both on campus and off campus. Non-University students, faculty and staff do not have access to this licensed service.
A user may have up to three e-books checked out at one time for a 14-day non-renewable loan period. OverDrive eBooks are automatically “returned” on the due date when they will no longer be available to the borrower. The e-books can be returned early. A maximum of six e-books can be added to a hold list; holds will expire three days after notification.
The University of Delaware Library also provides access to nearly 400,000 academic and scholarly e-books in all subjects and disciplines, including area, ethnic and gender studies; arts and humanities; and engineering and physical sciences. These e-books can be located via DELCAT, the online catalog of the University Library; via WorldCat Local; and via the University of Delaware Library Electronic Books Research Guide.
In addition, the University electronic library provides a rich array of resources online and is available 24/7. The electronic library includes the web page of the University of Delaware Library, which provides an online gateway to DELCAT, WorldCat Local, Research Guides, online databases, electronic journals, e-books, finding aids of Special Collections, digital collections and much more.
