12:09 p.m., Aug. 20, 2013--University of Delaware Police are investigating an incident in which shots were fired around 10:55 p.m., Monday, Aug. 19, at the basketball courts on the Laird Campus in Newark.

No one was injured in the incident, which grew out of an argument between two men on the basketball court.

According to UD Police, the argument escalated into a fistfight, and then one of the participants went to a vehicle that was parked at a metered space adjacent to the Independence Residence Hall. He retrieved a weapon and ran back toward the basketball court, where the crowd had started to disperse. The suspect fired multiple rounds striking one parked vehicle at least twice.

Four men, including the suspect, left the scene in a silver, four-door compact sedan, driving toward Christiana Towers.

The suspect is described as a college-age black male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with dark skin and short hair. He was wearing dark cargo shorts or cut-offs and an oversize white T-shirt.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact University of Delaware Police at 302-831-2222.
