HealthyU offers employees short videos on energizing yoga stretches
9:10 a.m., Aug. 12, 2013--Energizing desktop yoga stretches are being offered to University of Delaware employees through short videos now available on the HealthyU Employee Wellness website.
Three two-minute videos are offered and users can follow along with a variety of stretches, which can be completed at a desk in either a standing or seated position.

The idea for the videos came during a HealthyU Wellness Ambassadors meeting and was presented by Kate Webster, HR manager for Information Technologies.
“Many of UD’s Information Technologies staff spend long hours sitting at their computer workstations,” Webster said. “Finding ways to help employees be more physically active while working is important to IT. Demonstrating a few easy desktop stretches online for the University community to view just made good business sense.”
Sponsored by Information Technologies in partnership with Employee Wellness, the videos were produced in the spring semester by IT-University Media Services.
Recent research suggests that a 1-2 minute activity break each hour counteracts the negative effects of prolonged sitting.
