Kathy Dettloff named chief budget officer at UD
9:58 a.m., Aug. 29, 2013--Kathy L. Dettloff, budget officer at Johns Hopkins University for the past nine years, has been named chief budget officer at the University of Delaware, according to Scott Douglass, executive vice president and University treasurer. Her appointment is effective Oct. 1.
Drew Knab, who has served as interim budget director, will return to his duties as director, financial and management services in Facilities, Real Estate and Auxiliary Services.
"Kathy Dettloff has extensive experience in higher education budgeting, financial planning and reporting," Douglass said. "Her recognized skills as a strategic thinker adept at dealing with complex financial issues will serve the University well, and I look forward to working with her.
"In addition, my thanks go to Drew Knab for his leadership as interim budget director and to Nancy Targett, dean of the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment, for leading the search committee," Douglass said.
Dettloff has served as budget officer at Johns Hopkins since 2004. Her duties in that role have included advising the vice president of budget and strategic planning on all matters related to the university's operating and capital budgets; coordinating the total university budget and five-year plan; and creating and maintaining the $114 million university administration budget.
Her earlier posts at Johns Hopkins included university administration senior budget analyst, HopkinsOne budget project coordinator, special projects analyst, senior budget and planning analyst, and assistant planning analyst.
Dettloff holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the Rutgers University School of Business.
