Department of Philosophy sets undergraduate writing contest

1:20 p.m., April 15, 2014--The University of Delaware Department of Philosophy is sponsoring a student writing contest, which is open to all UD undergraduates.

The deadline for the contest, in which students are asked to write opinion pieces of about 500 words, is Thursday, May 1. Two winners will receive $500 each.

Three UD student researchers who are creating a graphic novel about an indigenous Peruvian people presented their work on Capitol Hill.

Successful job fair

The University of Delaware recently held its 38th annual Project Search education fair, with representatives of school districts from across the country interviewing students and educational professionals.

Entrants should write an opinion piece defending a view on any ethical issue, with one entry per student.

Entries should be sent in Word of PDF format to kai@udel.edu.

Entries will be judged by philosophy faculty looking for the best argument in defense of the most interesting ethical view.

Winners will be announced Friday, May 9, on the philosophy department website.

The contest is provided financial support by the Class of 1955 Ethics Endowment Fund.
