UD undergraduate students invited to SGA-sponsored Student Forum

12:54 p.m., April 14, 2014--University of Delaware undergraduate students are invited to a Student Government Association-sponsored Student Forum to be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 17, in the Perkins Student Center West Lounge. The forum is free and open to the campus community.

Students will hear from University officials and have an opportunity to ask questions on topics such as:

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

  • What should I do if the courses I need for my major are consistently not being offered?

The forum will feature a panel of UD administrators including Katie Connolly, assistant dean of students; Alan Brangman, vice president of facilities, real estate and auxiliary services; Robin Moore, senior director of operations for dining services; Richard Rind, director of parking and transportation; Sgt. Hugh Ferrill, UD Police; Jimmy Howard, assistant director for student and community advocacy in the office of residence life and housing; Jake Olkkola, associate athletic director, recreation services; and Stacey Bunting-Thompson, senior associate athletic director, external relations.

Each panelist will present a brief description of their role at the University and what responsibilities exist within their department.

After hearing brief updates from each administrator, the floor will be open to students for questions and commentary. Jessica Borcky, SGA president, will moderate the event.

Organizers said students are encouraged to attend and voice any concerns they have about University programs and policies, adding this is an opportunity to "be heard" and to help improve the quality of academic, residential, and extracurricular life at UD.
