“There’s a new movement on college campuses throughout the nation to provide recovery support for students who have struggled with drug and alcohol use,” said Estok, adding, “This looks different on every campus because the environment can be so different.”
For some colleges, she said, it can mean “recovery housing, support groups, AA or NA meetings, sober events or just connecting with other people who are like you.”
“We are looking to bring that same support to our Blue Hens who may be struggling with addiction or who have struggled with it and are working to protect their sobriety,” Estok said. “We need to hear more about what our campus needs, what our students need. We know there are students in recovery here at UD and we need your help. If you are interested in helping us determine what a recovery community would look like on our campus, come to the interest meeting. We can’t do this the right way without your help.”
