2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

“We thank those people who have conscientiously changed their passwords,” said Karl Hassler, associate director for IT systems security, IT Network and Systems Services. “But there are over 16,000 other people with passwords created before April 8, 2014, that must change their UDelNet passwords, too.”

So as not to disrupt student registration for the fall semester, the University is delaying measures that will force password changes.

“By the end of May, students, faculty, staff, and other holders of a UDelNet ID attempting to log in with passwords created before April 8 will be forced to create a new password at the UD Network page,” Hassler said.

You can select a new password by logging in to www.udel.edu/network

When selecting a new UDelNet password,

  • Select a password that is 8 to 30 characters in length.
  • Select a password or passphrase that includes at least one character from three of these four categories: Upper case letters, lower case letters, numerals, and any character not listed above (except for a blank space).
