Newark Police investigate armed robbery at Continental Court Apartments

3:27 p.m., April 8, 2014--Newark Police are investigating a robbery of two University of Delaware students that occurred Tuesday, April 8, inside an apartment at 65 South Chapel St., Newark.
At approximately 12:58 p.m., the resident of the apartment returned home, propped a building door open and left his apartment door unlocked in order for his friend to later enter. The suspect, a known acquaintance of the resident, then entered the apartment, followed shortly after by the friend.
After a brief conversation, the suspect removed a handgun from his backpack and demanded property from both victims. After obtaining property, including cash and drugs, the suspect fled on foot toward the University Courtyard apartment complex.
No one was injured during this incident and at no time was the public endangered, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is described as a 20- to 23-year-old male, with a thin build, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and wearing a gray sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
The victims are male UD students, ages 21 and 20.
