Campus area roads to be closed for 'Get Moving UD' 5K

2:50 p.m., Sept. 19, 2012--Several roads adjacent to the University of Delaware campus in Newark will be closed temporarily for the “Get Moving UD” fall fitness campaign 5K fun run and walk to be held Thursday evening, Sept. 20, and there may be some interruption of traffic flow.

Participants will begin gathering at the Lovett Avenue and Academy Street Intersection about 5:30 p.m., with the race to start at 5:45.

Little Bob closing

The Carpenter Sports Building will be closed from 6 p.m., Friday, May 24, until 6 a.m., Monday, June 3.

Academy Street will be closed from 5:25 to 6 p.m.

The course will take the runner down Courtney Street to South Chapel Street and Wyoming Avenue, where they will make their way to the James F. Hall Trail through the Early Learning Center and UD Cooperative Extension parking lots.

Parents picking up children at the Early Learning Center and employees in this around 5:50-6:15 p.m. area are advised to use caution. 

Runners will return to Academy Street from the James F. Hall Trail and will finish on The Green.

All driveways and access ways will be staffed with a volunteer or a police officer to assist as needed.
