School of Nursing to hold interdisciplinary fall lecture series


2:50 p.m., Sept. 12, 2012--The University of Delaware School of Nursing will hold its 2012 Fall Lecture Series beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

All lectures will take place in 114 McDowell Hall at 12:15 p.m.

Oct. 8: Black Lives Matter

UD's Department of Black American Studies will present a lecture by James Braxton Peterson of Lehigh University on the Black Lives Matter movement at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Trabant University Center Theatre.

Oct. 9: Glow Night

Perkins Live will host a Glow Night event on Friday, Oct. 9.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Sept. 19: “Metabolic Syndrome: Beyond the Medical Model,” Jennifer Saylor, assistant professor, School of Nursing;
  • Oct. 10:  “Context is Key: The Importance of Using Mixed Methods in Health Promotion Research,” Gregory Dominick, assistant professor, Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition; and
  • Oct. 31: “We’re Number One! Dissecting First-Year Students’ Perceptions of Health Profession Groups,” Barret Michalec, assistant professor, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice.
