Oct. 6: Main Street Mile
Newark to hold sixth annual Main Street Mile fundraiser
8:44 a.m., Sept. 17, 2012--The sixth annual Main Street Mile will be held at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, in downtown Newark.
Hundreds of runners and walkers will take advantage of the rare opportunity to travel down the center of Main Street without cars or traffic while supporting the Newark Police K-9 Unit and the Downtown Newark Partnership, of which the University of Delaware is a member.

The race will begin at the McDonald’s traffic circle on Main Street at 8 a.m. and will finish minutes later at the Deer Park Tavern. Immediately following, runners and walkers will be treated to a brunch hosted by the Deer Park.
The Main Street Mile is sponsored by the Downtown Newark Partnership, Newark Police Department, Fusion Fitness Center, Rittenhouse Station, Deer Park Tavern and New Balance.
To register for the Main Street Mile, visit the website. Pre-registration is $18 through Sept. 29. The first 250 people to pre-register receive a Main Street Mile T-shirt. Day of race registration is 7-7:45 a.m. at Fusion Fitness in Market East Plaza. Day of race registration is $22 after Sept. 29 through race day.
