Georgia Tech's Koros to present Jack A. Gerster Memorial Lecture

10:33 a.m., Sept. 5, 2012--William J. Koros, the Roberto C. Goizueta Chair and Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Membranes at the Georgia Institute of Technology, will present the Jack A. Gerster Memorial Lecture at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 21, in 102 Colburn Laboratory at the University of Delaware.

The lecture is sponsored by UD's Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

The campus community is invited to attend the inaugural Adelante: Latino-Hispanic Graduation Celebration, sponsored by UD's Center for Black Culture, at 4 p.m., Friday, May 24.

Koros will speak on "Membranes and Sorbents: Large Scale Separation Change Agents." An abstract on his talk is available in PDF format.

Koros served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Membrane Science from 1991-2008. He received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology in 1995 and the AIChE Separation Division's Clarence Gerhold Award in 1999.

Koros was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2000 and was named a fellow of AIChE in 2002 and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2003.

The series honors the late UD professor of chemical engineering, who served as chair of the department from 1966-70.
