TEXT SIZE

3:38 p.m., Oct. 2, 2012--What’s your passion? If given a study grant to pursue a passionate interest in any subject, anywhere in the world, what would you do?

The Plastino Scholars Program — established in 2007 by David Plastino, a University of Delaware alumnus who wanted to give students a learning opportunity of a lifetime — allows students to answer these open-ended questions.

Events Stories

Through May 10: 'The 39 Steps'

The University of Delaware Resident Ensemble Players will present "Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps" through May 10 at the Roselle Center for the Arts.

April 27: Free speech/hate speech

Space is still available in the special half-day symposium at UD that will explore the complexities of free speech, the hurtful impact of hate speech and ways to balance privilege with the rights of others. Advance registration is required.

An interest meeting for undergraduate students considering the program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., in 100 Sharp Laboratory.

A second interest meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., also in 100 Sharp Laboratory.

The Plastino Scholars Program awards grants to undergraduate students that support self-designated, off-campus learning experiences.

At the meeting, students will have the opportunity to meet former scholars and learn about their Plastino “projects,” and receive information on how to apply.

Applications for the 2012 Plastino Scholars Program are due by Friday, Dec. 7.
