Institute for Financial Services Analytics sets conference
10:39 a.m., Oct. 11, 2012--The Institute for Financial Services Analytics in the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics will hold a conference titled “Big Data, Analytics and Implications for Industry” from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, in 125 Alfred Lerner Hall.
The conference will feature presentations by Raghav Madhavan, managing director of JPMorgan Chase; David Schrader, director of strategy and marketing with Teradata Corp.; Anastasia Christianson, senior director and global discipline leader for biomedical informatics with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals; and Vess Bakalov, chief technology officer and senior vice president of products with SevOne Corp.

Madhavan will speak at 8:40 a.m. on “Big Data in Financial Services: Opportunities and Challenges,” Schrader at 9:25 a.m. on “Big Data for the Financial Industry: New Insights, New Value?!,” Christianson at 10:20 a.m. on “Getting More Knowledge Out of Our Data for Better Decisions,” and Bakalov at 10:55 a.m. on “How Big Data Helps Manage Big IT Infrastructure? Making Sense of Machine Chatter.”
A panel discussion featuring UD faculty members from Lerner College and the College of Engineering, moderated by Bintong Chen, professor of business administration, will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Panelists are Hui Fang, assistant professor of computer and electrical engineering; Harry Wang, associate professor of accounting and information systems; Skip White, professor of accounting and information systems; and Cathy Wu, Edward G. Jefferson Chair of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
