First Year Experience program accepting applications for Peer Mentors

11:22 a.m., Oct. 9, 2012--The University of Delaware First Year Experience program is seeking Peer Mentors for fall 2013. Peer Mentors are upper class students who serve as a resource and role model for first-year students.

To be a Peer Mentor, students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8 and be involved in several organizations around campus.

July 21-25: Cyber camp

The University of Delaware will be the host site for the 2014 U.S. Cyber Challenge summer camp program to be held from July 21-25.

Okrent to address UDLA

Daniel Okrent, respected writer and editor, will be the featured speaker when the University of Delaware Library Associates holds its 2015 annual dinner on Wednesday evening, April 15, 2015, in Arsht Hall.

Peer Mentors serve as student liaisons for new first-year students, build a sense of academic community among a small group of first-year students and serve as resources for first-year students with questions or concerns.

All Peer Mentors are required to take a one-credit class that meets every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 pm in the second half of the spring 2013 semester. Students must be able to attend this class to participate in the program.

The application deadline is noon, Monday, Oct. 22.
