New name, new approach

UD's Office of Communications and Marketing has changed its name to Communications and Public Affairs to better reflect its mission and new goals to enhance the University's external outreach.

Faculty meet up

UD's Horn Program invites all faculty members with interests in design, innovation, technology and creativity to attend an informal meet up on Nov. 21 at the Venture Development Center.

The University’s SMA program is a unique and fun opportunity for students to gain professional social media experience before graduating.

SMAs work as a team to create and curate fun, engaging content for the Blue Hen Says Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as other official UD accounts.

This semester, SMAs have been given official Blue Hen Twitter accounts to share their experiences at Delaware with fellow and prospective students. They cover on-campus events by live-tweeting, taking photos and videos and writing blogs.

SMAs also have the opportunity to develop content to be published on the Blue Hen Says and University of Delaware Facebook pages.

After her first semester as an SMA, Shayna Lupu said the program has been extremely valuable for her. “As an SMA, I’ve had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with social media while doing things on campus that I enjoy and getting involved with the community,” she said.

Interested students can find the SMAs at a kiosk in the Trabant University Center on Thursday, Nov. 15, or Friday, Nov. 16, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., to learn more about the program.

Spring SMA applications are now being accepted. The deadline to complete the online application is Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11:59 p.m.
