Newark Police issue gold alert for missing adult

6:08 p.m., Nov. 5, 2012--The Newark Police Department has issued a gold alert for Linda Hegg, a 55-year-old woman who is overdue in returning to her residence in the unit block of Country Club Drive in Newark.

Hegg was last seen in mid- to late September and has not been seen or heard from since. Her medical condition is such that there is concern for her safety.

Spencer to reopen Saturday

Following a Friday afternoon fire, the University of Delaware's Spencer Laboratory will reopen at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, with the exception of Suites 131 and 133, which will be closed until further notice.

App for safety

UD now has a smartphone safety app that helps prevent crime and enables police better respond to incidents, making students even safer while at school.

She is described at 5 feet 4 inches tall, 130 pounds, with short blond hair and blue eyes. It is unknown what clothing she may be wearing, and she is not known to operate a motor vehicle.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Newark Police at 302-366-7111.
