As one of the five student contestants, Williams will attend the Outdoor Retailer (OR) Winter Market tradeshow in Salt Lake City this January, where she will be given a design brief from which to make initial sketches on the show’s opening morning.
“These five students join an exclusive group of top-level product designers invited to go head-to-head in front of the entire outdoor industry,” said Kenji Haroutunian, vice president at Nielsen Expositions and OR show director.
The grand prize includes a design profile in a national magazine and a return trip to Salt Lake City for the next retail show.
Williams is a Delaware native and year-round skier who recently gained a love and appreciation for global design and technical textiles during an extended study abroad trip at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
