Confucius Institute to celebrate anniversary with open house at new location
1:17 p.m., Nov. 27, 2012--The Confucius Institute at the University of Delaware will celebrate its second anniversary with an open house at its new location 121 E. Delaware Avenue on Friday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
A partnership of the University of Delaware and Xiamen University, the Confucius Institute was established at UD in 2010 with the support of the Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing, which is affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The broad goals of the Confucius Institute include enhancing the understanding of Chinese language and culture on campus and in the greater Delmarva community, strengthening educational and cultural exchange and cooperation, building a strong bridge between the University and the private sector through economic scholarship and entrepreneurship, and promoting a world of multiculturalism.
Jianguo Chen, associate professor of Chinese studies and director of the Chinese Program at UD, serves as the institute’s director, and Jianjun Huang, deputy dean of the International College at Xiamen University, is the co-director.
