1:25 p.m., May 20, 2013--UDTime is a new system being implemented by the University of Delaware Office of Human Resources that will provide centralized and consistent information concerning employees’ earned time off and that will be easily accessible from anywhere in the world.

“Your time is important,” said Tom LaPenta, interim associate vice president of human resources, “and UDTime will help both supervisors and employees maintain accurate and up-to-date information about such things as earned vacation time, sick leave and dependent sick days.”

HR is preparing the system for an early August rollout, with training sessions to be scheduled through the summer.

HR officials have said that one of the major concerns expressed by faculty and staff has been that UDTime will require all employees to clock in and out. For the vast majority of employees, that is not the case; for those who already clock in and out, UDTime will modernize the process.

Here is how UDTime will affect various employee groups:

  • Academic faculty – Limited interaction with the system. UDTime will be used only for use of the leave request form for non-sabbatical leave.
  • Fiscal faculty – Limited interaction. UDTime will be used only for use of the leave request form for non-sabbatical leave, including sick and vacation leave.
  • Senior leadership – Limited interaction. UDTime will be used only for use of the leave request form, including sick and vacation leave.
  • Exempt staff – Limited interaction. UDTime will be used only for use of the leave request form, including sick and vacation leave.
  • Non-exempt staff – Limited interaction. UDTime will be used only for use of the leave request form and the comp time earned form.
  • AFSCME 439 – Full interaction. UDTime will provide an easy to use, online system to record work time in and out, and for use of the leave request form.
  • AFSCME 3472 – Full interaction. UDTime will provide an easy to use, online system to record work time in and out, and for use of the leave request form.
  • FOP – Limited interaction. UDTime will be available for use of webview to review balances.
  • Supplemental employees – No interaction.
  • Miscellaneous wage employees – Full interaction. UDTime will provide an easy to use, online system to record work time in and out.
  • Graduate student workers – No interaction.
  • Undergraduate student workers – Full interaction. UDTime will provide an easy to use, online system to record work time in and out.

UDTime is powered by WorkForce Software’s EmCenter program, which also is being employed at institutions such as the University of Alabama, the University of California Santa Cruz and Ohio University.
