Newark Police investigate robbery on East Delaware Avenue

3:47 p.m., May 22, 2013--Newark Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 12:12 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, at the T-Mobile Store at 224 East Delaware Ave.

A man entered the store through the front door, presented a handgun and demanded cash from the 27-year-old clerk. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of currency, then fled the store in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured.

Newark Police responded to the scene with assistance from UD Police and a Delaware State Police canine team. A canine track was conducted but was unsuccessful.

Police describe the suspect as a white male with an average build, approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a black shirt, black pants, black cap and a black mask concealing his face.
