Newark Police investigate robbery of UD student at Fairfield Shopping Center
10:28 a.m., May 14, 2013--Newark Police are investigating the robbery of a 21-year-old male University of Delaware student that occurred at approximately 11:05 p.m., Monday, May 13, at an ATM at the Fairfield Shopping Center.
The victim told police he was conducting a transaction at the ATM when a man approached from an area of bushes near the machine, brandished what appeared to be a gun and demanded money. The victim complied, and the suspect fled north, with an undisclosed amount of cash, on foot through the Regency Square Apartments parking lot, then toward New London Road. The victim was not injured.
The victim described the suspect as 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a scarf over his face and possibly a black leather jacket.
