Newark Police investigate robbery at car dealership
5:37 p.m., May 28, 2013--Newark Police are investigating a robbery at the Matt Slap Subaru car dealership, 255 East Cleveland Ave., that occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m., Tuesday, May 28.
According to police, a man entered the customer service area and requested change for a $5 bill from the receptionist. He then handed her a note that demanded money and advised against calling the police.
The suspect placed his hand on his hip implying that he had a weapon, but none was displayed at any time. The receptionist handed him an undisclosed amount of cash, and he fled the area on foot, last seen running toward Christopher Drive. A University of Delaware Police canine unit assisted in conducting a track for the suspect without result.
The suspect is described as approximately 50 years old, 6 feet tall, with short salt-and-pepper colored hair, wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans.
