Newark AAUW branch seeks student award applicants

9:14 a.m., March 5, 2013--The Newark branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) invites students to apply for its annual $500 award to an outstanding senior woman graduating from the University of Delaware in May.

The award will be presented at the award recipient’s college convocation. The recipient will also be recognized at the May meeting of the Newark branch of AAUW.

A team from UD's Army ROTC program placed third among eight ROTC teams at the Sandhurst International Military Skills Competition.

Parkman Prize

The University of Delaware's Christine Leigh Heyrman has won a top prize from the Society of American Historians for her book about the first American Protestant missionaries who traveled to the Middle East to reach out to Muslims in the 19th century.

Principal criteria include academic achievement (with a minimum index of 3.25) and leadership in volunteer service, not only on campus, but also for the greater Newark area or her home community.

Applications are available in the Office of Equity and Inclusion, 305 Hullihen Hall, on the web or by email to Sandra Millard at skm@udel.edu. The deadline for submission of applications is Friday, March 8.
