New VoIP phone deployment
East Campus is next to receive University's new VoIP phones
10:12 a.m., June 26, 2013--University of Delaware Telephone Services advises faculty and staff that deployment of the new VoIP phones is now proceeding to East Campus.
East Campus is defined as buildings with codes beginning with NE (Newark East). Visit the VoIP website for more details, including a list of buildings in the East Campus deployment.
Faculty climate survey
Dimension Data, the approved UD vendor that is conducting the deployment, has already delivered several thousand new VoIP phones to faculty and staff in the north, west and south parts of campus.
Telephone Services reminds the University community to read the VoIP website for details on this extensive technology upgrade, which includes an initial “like for like” replacement of old to new phones.
If a department currently has a conference phone, it will be replaced with a VoIP conference phone. Existing headsets will be upgraded with an adapter to work with the new VoIP phone.
Until the entire campus is “cut over” to the new VoIP phone service in mid-August, it is important to remember the following:
- Existing Centrex phone service continues in its entirety, handling incoming calls, outgoing calls and voice mail.
- New VoIP phones will only function for outgoing calls and voice mail for calls received from other VoIP phones.
- Telephone Services assures everyone that unique telephone needs will be resolved.
