Newark Police investigate armed robbery on North Chapel Street
5:25 p.m., June 10, 2013--Newark Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 9:43 a.m., Sunday, June 9, at Mi Ranchita, a food market located at 13 North Chapel Street.
Police said two suspects were involved in the incident and entered the store, with one displaying a handgun. They ordered two employees and a customer to the rear of the store, then tied the hands of two of the victims behind their backs and demanded money from the third victim.

Police said the after the suspects received an undisclosed amount of money, they tied the hands of the third victim and then fled from the store. The victims were able to free themselves from their constraints.
A New Castle County Police K9 unit assisted in efforts to track the suspects.
Suspects are described as a black male approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 5 inches tall with a thin to average build, about 40 years old, wearing dark jeans, a black baseball cap and sunglasses, and an Hispanic male 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 30 years old, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, dark jeans and a black beanie hat.
The investigation is ongoing.
