University Farmers Market rescheduled to Friday due to weather

4:47 p.m., June 26, 2013--The popular University of Delaware Farmers Market will be moved to Friday, June 28, due to inclement weather expected on Thursday.

The Farmers Market will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, at Mentors’ Circle.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The market features a wide array of locally grown produce, baked goods, spices and more.

Along with items from more than 21 local area farms, the market includes a Chef’s Table where visitors can sample and take home unique summer recipes including a marinated cauliflower salad, a grilled portabella mushroom and edamame salad, and a grilled shrimp and roasted red pepper pizza.

The Farmers Market also offers UDairy Creamery ice cream in a wide variety of flavors to complete its diverse menu.

The market is generally held on Thursdays but moves to Fridays when inclement weather threatens.

Acceptable payment methods include points, flex, and cash.
