Library presents 'Old Guard/Avant-Garde: The Politics of Post-Victorian Aestheticism'


2 p.m., July 3, 2012--The University of Delaware Library and the Delaware Art Museum announce “Old Guard/Avant-Garde: The Politics of Post-Victorian Aestheticism,” a presentation by Kristin Mahoney, 2012 Fellow in Pre-Raphaelite Studies, at noon, Wednesday, July 11, in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room in the Morris Library.

The University of Delaware will celebrate National Public Health Week 2015, with daily events for the entire community at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research Campus from April 6-11.

April 9: Dinosaur discovery

Drexel professor and UD alumnus Kenneth Lacovara will discuss his discovery of Dreadnoughtus schrani, the most complete supermassive dinosaur skeleton ever found.

Mahoney is an assistant professor of English at Western Washington University in Bellingham. She has published articles on the national politics of collecting Vernon Lee and Dante Gabriel Rossetti in Criticism, Victorian Studies and Victorian Periodicals Review.

She is the editor of Hubert’s Arthur by Baron Corvo published by Valancourt Books in 2009.

Her current research is on late-Victorian aestheticism in the early 20th century.

The University of Delaware Library and Delaware Art Museum joint Fellowship in Pre-Raphaelite Studies is awarded in a juried process to scholars conducting significant research in the lives and work of the Pre-Raphaelites and their friends, associates, and followers. Fellows are in residence in Delaware for approximately one month and have use of the collections of the University of Delaware Library Special Collections, the Mark Samuels Lasner Collection and the Delaware Art Museum.
