Blue Hen Leadership Program sets campuswide leadership conference

11:38 a.m., Feb. 22, 2013--The Blue Hen Leadership Program at the University of Delaware has announced a campuswide leadership conference to be held from 8:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m., Saturday, March 9, in the Trabant University Center.

The theme of the third annual leadership conference is “Chasing Authentic Success,” with a focus on leadership, ethics and decision making.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

There will be a keynote presentation by Corey Ciocchetti of the University of Denver, as well as breakout sessions and a panel discussion.

Ciocchetti, assistant professor of business ethics and legal studies at the University of Denver and the author of the book Real Rabbits, speaks frequently about developing lives filled with “genuine contentment, strong personal relationships and a solid character.”

Other presenters will be Dave Brock, UD head football coach; Darelle Riabov, president of the UD Alumni Association and former assistant vice president of corporate communications for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware; John Campanella, director of planning and development for Delaware State Police; Joseph Petito, principal partner, PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Ed Freel, instructor, School of Public Policy and Administration, and policy scientist and project manager of the Democracy Project in the Institute for Public Administration; Adam Cantley, assistant director, University Student Centers, fraternity and sorority life; Lenneal Henderson, professor of public policy, University of Baltimore; and Joshua Berger, leadership development rotation, JPMorgan Chase.

Students participating in the Blue Hen Leadership Program can earn four credits toward their certificate of excellence in leadership by attending this conference. Greek chapters sending 10 or more members to the conference can complete their leadership requirement for the Chapter Assessment Program. 

The conference is free and open to all students. Breakfast and lunch are served.
