New phishing scams hit UD
Email that your UD email account is 'flagged' is fraudulent
3:38 p.m., Feb. 5, 2013--University of Delaware Information Technologies (IT) reports that new phishing scams tailored to the UD community began arriving in UD inboxes over the weekend.
Since Sunday, Feb. 3, several dozen UD students and employees have responded to the phishing scams, allowing their UD email accounts to be hijacked by hackers and spammers.

If you receive email with a subject line like this one -- “UDemail Service – Your UDemail Account has been Flagged” -- delete it. Do not click any links in the message.
Even though the message appears to come from IT staff, the email is a phishing scam designed to get recipients to click a link to harvest personal information. If you hover your computer’s mouse over the link that allegedly goes to one of UD’s email services, you’ll see that the link would really take you to a suspect site.
Should you click a link in one of these recent scams, you’ll see a very realistic-looking login page for UD’s Webmail (Mirapoint) or Exchange email service. But if you take a moment to examine the URL of the site, you will see that it is not a udel.edu website.
If you suspect that you have been hooked by a phishing scam and submitted your UD password to a phisher, change your UDelNet password immediately or contact the IT Support Center (Help Request form, firstname.lastname@example.org, 302-831-6000).
