8:35 a.m., Feb. 11, 2013--This Valentine's Day, the University of Delaware wants to once again meet and celebrate Double Dels -- married couples who are UD alumni.

All couples are encouraged to post their photo on the UD Office of Alumni Relations Facebook wall and the Double Dels with the most popular photo will be named the official 2013 UD Lovebirds and will win a mystery prize.

People Stories

'Resilience Engineering'

The University of Delaware's Nii Attoh-Okine recently published a new book with Cambridge University Press, "Resilience Engineering: Models and Analysis."

Reviresco June run

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Photo popularity will be determined by the number of “likes” each photo receives. Voting and photo posting begins on Monday, Feb. 11, and ends on Monday, Feb. 18.

All submissions must be posted directly on the official UD Alumni Relations Facebook page and creativity is encouraged.

The Double Dels are encouraged to include a story about their time at UD -- how they met, where they met, classes they had together, and more.

Also, special recognition goes to 2011 winners, Alison and Mike Hayden, members of the Class of 1991, and 2012 winners, Dan and Kelly Young. He was a member of the Class of 1997 and she of the Class of 2000.

In telling their story, Dan Young said the two met at Grotto’s Sports Den, where he was a bouncer, in November 1998. “We started dating after that night and managed to navigate the rough waters of the social scene of UD,” he said, adding, “She was in the marching band; I hung out with the Greeks. She liked quiet nights on Ray Street; I liked staying up until 5 a.m. at Courtney Street parties. She was a Virgo; I was a Scorpio. Most people just did not believe that it would last. But after 13 years, three kids, and two mortgages, we are still together. As you can tell from the picture (above), we embrace diversity, both in life and in relationships.”
